Title (演題):Estimation of crustal parameters in Ross Island, Antarctica
Abstract (要旨):
Estimation of localized crustal parameters gives us valuable insights into the nature of the crust and the tectonics of the region. The amplitudes and time of the phases in the receiver function can be used to model the crustal thickness and Vp/Vs ratio, by the use of the H-k stacking method (Zhu and Kanamori, 2000). In this study, we have used the technique to model the crustal parameters in Mount Erebus region in Ross Island, Antarctica with backazimuth variation. Although the overall crustal thickness is less than 25 km with variations, yet beneath the stations in some segments, the Vp/Vs ratio is increasingly high (~2.0). Presence of partial melt and trapped fluids with ice cores in the crust could contribute to the increasing Vp/Vs ratio. In addition, the Vp/Vs fluctuation also suggests the local heterogeneity in the region.
