Observation and simulation of the tsunami-generated magnetic field in 2009 Samoa and 2010 Chile earthquake tsunamis
要旨:
This presentation is a extend of the presentation in the 2020 SGEPSS autumn meeting. Based on the data of 2009 Samoa and 2010 Chile earthquake tsunamis observed by 9 OBEMs on the French Polynesian seafloor in the South Pacific Ocean (TIARES area), we studied two phenomena in the tsunami-generated magnetic (TGM) field: the phase lead of the tsunami vertical component (bz) and the initial rise in the tsunami horizontal component (bh). Firstly, we compare the observed TGM field and the tsunami sea level change in the 2009 Samoa and 2010 Chile earthquakes. The main process here is the deconvolution of the tsunami sea level change. Subsequently, we simulated this two TGM fields by the TMTGEM code (Minami et al., 2015) and compared with the observation. The results show that the discrepancy between the simulation and the observation is mainly due to the underestimated tsunami velocity field around TIARES area. Finally, we discuss the phase lead and the initial rise in both the observation and simulation. We found that the phase lead of the bz and the initial rise in bh appeared clearly in both simulation and observation.
